On the 28th of January 2002 the European Parliament and the
Council adopted Regulation (EC)178/2002 laying down the General Principles and
requirements of Food Law. It lays down definitions, principles and obligations
covering all stages of food/feed production and distribution. Consequently,
from 1st January 2006 it became a legal requirement for all food businesses
however large or small, to implement a documented food safety management
system, showing what methods are in use every day, and that you know what to do
when something goes wrong. This requirement applies to all members of the
supply chain whether local or international.
Services
2nd party audits on behalf of international
importers/retailers
Importers, retailers and fast food chains can rely on Blue Moon's
experience, competence and integrity to verify the continual compliance of
their suppliers to:
Legal requirements in the countries of origin and destination - this can
include sampling of organic and conventional products for laboratory analysis)
Social compliance requirements
Supply agreements
Traceability requirements - this service can include regular traceability
challenges throughout the supply season as an objective evidence of compliance
to the EU Food Law
The ability of Blue Moon's team to communicate fluently in Arabic and
English is an added value as all auditing activities shall be conducted in
Arabic while the results shall be professionally communicated to the importers,
retailers and fast food chains in English. This aspect is particularly critical
in traceability challenges as documents/records are usually completed in the
local language of the workers as required by the international private
standards.
